A really special Little Seed Farm Wedding

At Tim Simpson Photography, I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings in some truly special locations, but Kim and Josh’s wedding at Little Seed Farm in Ripon was one that really stood out. The couple created a day that was every bit as unique and personal as they are – relaxed, full of fun, and set against the beautiful backdrop of this charming Yorkshire venue.

A Wedding Day Focused on What Matters

Kim and Josh chose to keep their guest list small, inviting only the people who clearly meant the most to them. This decision set the tone for the entire day – intimate, heartfelt, and full of joy. Many of the guests stayed in the cabins dotted around the farm, close (ish!) to both the wedding barn and the tipi (supplied by Countryside Events), which was set in a lovely spot beside a pond. The whole setup was perfect for a relaxed countryside wedding in Ripon.

Wedding Preparations in the Farm Cabins

As a wedding photographer, I always feel it’s a privilege to capture the wedding morning preparations. For Kim, this took place in one of the farm’s rustic cabins, which made for some wonderfully unique and creative images. These natural, authentic settings often create some of my favourite photographs of the day – and this was no exception.

A Ceremony with Personality

Kim’s arrival for the ceremony was anything but traditional. Instead of a car, she arrived in a farm ATV vehicle – setting the perfect tone for the rest of the day. It was clear that Kim and Josh wanted to do things their way, and it made the wedding all the more special.

Kim wore a gorgeous dress (by Fifi Bridal) that reflected her personality perfectly, complementing her tattoos and natural style. During the ceremony, one of the standout moments was a beautifully delivered poem by Josh’s Nan Margaret, which brought warmth quite a few laughs to the day. Later, she performed another poem during the marquee reception, and again it was a highlight for everyone.

Portraits Around the Farm

After the ceremony, we took a relaxed wander around the farm to capture some couples portraits. I lit several of these shots using my portable Elinchrom studio flash, which gave the images a creative, stylish edge. With the time and space to work in such a unique environment, I’m particularly proud of this set of portraits – they really reflect the atmosphere and individuality of the day. No doubt slightly ‘posy’ and perhaps not the relaxed imagery from the rest of the day but I think we smashed it and Josh looked very dapper in his Jacob Brian Bespoke Tailors suit.

Cakes, Speeches, and Evening Celebrations

After the lovely tea and cakes by Hannah’s Kitchen were the heartfelt speeches. The celebration then continued in the marquee beside the pond. Guests enjoyed a relaxed afternoon before the evening food (Pizza by Saddle up and Dough), drinks, and dancing kicked off. The farm setting and the warmth of family and friends made the atmosphere truly special.

As I drove home, I couldn’t help but smile. This was one of those weddings where you know everyone present had shared in something unforgettable – a day that was authentic, joyful, and truly reflective of Kim and Josh’s love for each other.

Final Thoughts

Kim and Josh’s wedding at Little Seed Farm, Ripon was a reminder of why I love being a wedding photographer in Yorkshire. The unique setting, the intimacy of the guest list, and the couple’s choice to do things their way made it a day to remember.
