A Fun, Relaxed Wedding at LOST on the Wirral
These days (after over 400 weddings) I’m very lucky that I can pick and choose the work that I do. I mainly photograph cars, bikes and work with musicians and artists as I love a creative collaboration. See my other work HERE at TSP Studios.
However I feel that I will always shoot a few weddings a year as I love the process. As Lisa is a fellow creative photographer and after chatting and hearing about her and Rob’s plans and the venue I was very excited to book them in to get my wedding fix.
Set in the heart of the Wirral, LOST is quite a unique wedding venues. Housed within a beautifully restored barn conversion, it combines rustic charm with contemporary style. It feels more like an incredible party space than a traditional wedding venue make it perfect for couples wanting something a little different. LOST specialises in unique weddings for cool couples with vision, and Rob and Lisa certainly fitted that description.
Working With a Fellow Photographer
Lisa wasn’t interested in endless posing or turning the day into a photoshoot. Instead, she wanted the photographs to reflect the atmosphere, the laughter, the emotion and all those little moments that often go unnoticed. That’s exactly how I love to work. My approach is always about allowing the day to unfold naturally, capturing genuine interactions rather than manufacturing them.
When couples trust me in that way, it allows everyone (and myself) to relax and simply enjoy their wedding day.
A Story Told Through String
One of the most touching details of the day was the story behind Rob and Lisa’s wedding rings.
The rings were specially designed as intertwined pieces of string, representing the proposal itself. During a visit to Rob’s Aunt Diane’s memorial bench, while placing flowers in her memory, Rob used a piece of string from the bouquet to propose to Lisa. Diane had played a part in bringing them together, making the moment even more meaningful.
Rather than choosing traditional wedding bands, they commissioned Unique Creations inspired by that piece of string, creating a lasting symbol of their relationship and the story that brought them to this point. It’s details like this that ran through the whole day. Another example of this was Craig Elliot the pianist whose piano pieces were all from video games.
There was no sense of rushing from one formal moment to another. Instead, guests were encouraged to relax, enjoy themselves and celebrate alongside the couple.
Another great touch was the evening food. Forget formal evening buffets; guests were treated to a gorgeous chippy tea alongside hot dogs. It was unexpected, delicious and perfectly summed up how Rob and Lisa roll. They created a day that felt welcoming, unpretentious and genuinely fun from start to finish.
A Dream Team of Wedding Suppliers
The success of any wedding day comes from the top down through to the people behind the scenes, and Rob and Lisa assembled a great team.
A special mention should go to Bev the wedding planner from Lost. Everything went perfectly to plan with the absolute bare minimum of interjection from Bev. Thats the way to do it!
If you were planning a wedding, you could do a lot worse than starting with Lisa’s dress supplier. The experience and style offered by Along Came Eve in Chester is second to none.
