The Saddlewoth Hotel Wedding of Lynne and Chris

An informal and friendly Saddleworth Hotel Wedding

Considering that the Saddleworth Hotel is the closest venue to me its been too long since I shot a wedding at this lovely location.

Lynne and Chris are keen walkers and certainly this part of the Pennines is a real walkers playground, fitting then that we went for a walk in the nearby woods during their couples portrait part of the day.

Planning the shoot

I always enjoy the morning of a wedding, I’ll get there nice and early and have a walk round the grounds of the venue, as I said The Saddleworth Hotel is set amongst some lovely countryside, opposite Catleshaw Reservoir and the Roman Fort, I remember going there on a school trip many years ago. It during this time I’ll get some shots in my head for later, its then I spotted a break in the trees for the drone shot you see above, its good to have a plan!

It’s usually during the morning when I shoot the bridal preparation shots, this is always a lovely time of the day, its nice to be able to record it for everyone. Lynne had 3 generations as her bridesmaids which was pretty special.

Whilst I was shooting way the staff were making decisions about an outside ceremony or not, with the decision to go inside made minutes before. It’s a lovely bright ceremony room at The Saddleworth Hotel and the registrars from Oldham council were great, it was a lovely ceremony.

Party time

With the rain clearing it was nice for the guests to mill around outside after the ceremony and catch up with friends and family. This is also a good time for me to photograph the guests naturally.

Wedding photography is several photographic disciplines rolled into one. I love capturing people naturally like like this in an editorial style and I like the portrait aspect of the couples shoot too. When I’m not shooting weddings I mainly shoot cars, bikes and scooters so I was a pig in poop shooting the lovely car collection outside the venue.

I hope you enjoy my edited highlights of Chris and Lynnes wedding, it was a real honour to be part of their day and a day I certainly won’t forget, I’m sure everyone that was there will feel the same.
