Chester Cathedral Boho Wedding Photography

We certainly packed a lot in to Cosmina and Peter’s boho-style wedding, including a visit to the stunning Chester Cathedral to shoot some wedding couple’s portraits. I was really excited to shoot my signature boho wedding photography at this beautiful venue. Plus, it was the first (and hopefully not the last!) time I have shot a Romanian Wedding. It’s hard to put into words just what a super friendly bunch of people I was surrounded by all day, they really did make me feel right at home. I felt like I was part of the day somehow and I hope this is reflected by what a warm, stylish and fun set of images these are. In my previous meetings and correspondence with Cosmina it was very clear that photography on the day was very important to this couple. It was to be a small intimate wedding and Peter and Cosmina had set aside a good amount of time to take photographs in a few locations. This is a luxury I don’t always have, normally my couples portrait part of the day takes 30-40 minutes. In fact with the meal and drinks reception being quite toward the end of the day, photography took centre stage and as this was my last wedding of the year I was pleased to finish in style for sure.
Time to get married
After the getting-ready shots of Cosmina and Peter in their lovely home with their super cool dog we made our way to Mold Registry Office, a really beautiful building with lovely grounds. In a day of firsts I witnessed during the ceremony something I had not witnessed before. I have touched on just what a friendly and lovely couple we have here. You can just tell the love and respect they have for each other is really strong and this across during the ceremony, especially during the part when they recited their own written vows in Romanian. So evident was this the registrar was struggling to speak and was failing to hold back her tears. I was too and I have literally shot hundreds of weddings but emotion this strong is something really that only a wedding can provide and it was a lovely unforgettable moment and one of the reasons I love what I do, its a privilege to share these moments and capture them forever. For someone like the registrar (who too must have conducted hundreds of weddings) to be moved so much was a testament to her and evidence of just what a great moment it was in Cosmina and Peter’s marriage journey.
Ceremony at Bebbington Church
With the couple now married next we moved on to the Romanian Bebbington Church for the blessing. Again this was something I had not done before, as it was all spoken in Romanian I can’t pretend I understood completely what was happening! However the symbolism during the ceremony was very strong, I enjoyed it very much and it again was quite moving. The priest too was obviously and warm and humorous man as there was plenty of laughter.

Outside the church I took advantage of the avenues of trees and got some really lovely images of the newlyweds and it was the onto Chester Cathedral. Chester Cathedral is a truly magnificent building and it was great to spend some time inside and in the gardens. After the wedding photoshoot at Chester Cathedral it was a quick walk through Chester Town centre to the very plush Grosvenor Hotel where the guests were treated to some great food and dancing.
On my way home from this day it was certainly in my mind that I don’t think I could have ended what has been a truly great wedding year for myself any better really, and Coismina and Peter I thank you from the bottom of my heart for such an emotional and and happy day, also for a great collaboration, I’m really pleased that this set of images has ended my wedding season. As I am writing this I have just had the news that I have been voted by the very popular wedding blog and magazine Zank You Weddings as one of their Top 10 Wedding Photographers of the year. Thank You Zank You 🙂
