I appreciate that we are not at this Hillbark Hotel wedding to have fun, we are there to work but with a couple like Gemma and Ken, their friends, family and Gemma’s Nan it was going to be pretty hard not to have fun really! In the words of Frank Gallagher (Shameless)- “first and formost the most vital necessity is this life is they know how to throw a PARTY!” and they certainly do.
We met Gemma in the morning at The Leverhulme Hotel in the beautiful and unique Port Sunlight Village where she was getting ready with all her bridesmaids. Gemma was ultra relaxed, we got straight into shooting the preparations, there was lots going on. Gemma’s flowers were being taken care of by the super talented Lyndaflora and they looked great. The bridesmaids left for the Hillbark Hotel fairly early so we spent a really nice hour with Gemma who was just having the final hair and makeup done, she was still super cool and relaxed.
It was only a short dive for us to get to the venue , there was a real sense of anticipation when we got there as the guests were congregating in the lovely marriage room. This room and the entrance had also been dressed in the same flower colour scheme as Gemma’s bouquet which was a really nice touch.
After the ceremony (which wasn’t taken too seriously by Gemma!!) we had 30 minutes to photograph The Muirs, it was raining quite hard by then but with the use of out new umbrella and some of the fab interior of Hillbark we got some amazing shots.
Next it was time for the meal and speeches and time for Gemma’s Nan to shine! At one point she stopped the speeches because she could not hear and then continued to heckle the speakers, she was hilarious.
Gemma and Ken put on events and Dj (another thing we have in common with them) so you just knew the evening do was going to be good, before all this though we shot our photo booth which was non stop and such good fun (this is supposed to be a job, we just can’t help it!). It’s great to people keep coming back using the booth with different ideas each time, and each time getting more and more bizzare.
We left for our room after midnight and the dance floor was full and not looking like the party was going to stop for days, it probably didn’t.
Gemma and Ken you treated us and your guests with such love and generosity we hope it comes back to you times ten, you deserve it.x
