Weddings, this is how to do it!
Chris and Kirsten’s Grains Bar Hotel Wedding has been a long time coming, somethings are worth the wait aren’t they, this wedding is certainly one of those things. It took Chris 15 years to propose!
They were one of the first couples to book a wedding at Grains Bar Hotel all this years ago. The hotel has changed a hell of a lot since then. Only very recently when I shot Sarah and Howard’s wedding there the ceremony room wasn’t finished, now its such lovely well lit addition.
So they certainly have had a run up to this day, it showed too, there were loads of little touches that put this couples stamp on it. Quite understated and stylish and all the better for it
Weddings are a team effort
I’ve known the families for more years than I care to think, just like Rebecca and Dan’s wedding a few weeks ago, so this was a really special day.
Kirsten and Chris were fully going to do things their way, they wanted the photos to reflect this and I think we nailed it. Ive said before that the photos are a team effort and we had had a few meetings and discussions about how they should look. Not your run of the mill weddings images is really what they wanted. They wanted the final outcome to be a little off the wall and more like wedding art. Which was music to my ears for sure.
It takes a little effort though from the couple to get good images. It takes a sense of adventure and this couple have it in spades.
I’d planned the first shot in the post for a while and it looked fairly doable with some planning. As ever though things can change can’t they. It has been raining (what in Saddleworth!) for it seems like months now so the ground was really boggy. Then coupled with the fact that there were two highland cattle with the biggest sharpest looking horns you have ever seen stood right next to the structure. Also the fact that the gate to the field was closed all pointed toward ‘Plan B’. Kirsten though was having non of it. She hitched up the hoop from her dress and with the help of Chris climbed the fence and said ‘lets do this’!
Well worth is I think as I’m super pleased with this shot and its down to all of us that it looks so good. Kirstens childhood modelling really clicked into place 🙂
It’s that sort of sense of adventure and fun that make Chris and Kirsten perfect for each other.
Oh did I mention the first look shot. Chris was expecting the gorgeous Kirsten to be stood behind him when he turned round. Instead it was the best man dressed as a buff waiter. It worked a treat!
I wish you both all the future happiness that you deserve and a lifetime of fun and love.
