Last weekend we found ourselves in the stunning setting of Upwaltham Barns to photograph the wedding of a fabulous couple named Hayley & James. We travelled down South to the fab venue located in Petworth, West Sussex where we noticed a definite difference in the weather- the sun had most certainly got its hat on (we’re appreciative of blue skies us folk from rainy Manchester you see!).
Hayley arrived at the Barns in the early afternoon looking all chirpy and surprisingly calm, a demeanour which carried on all day! It was impossible to resist photographing the beautiful surroundings of Upwaltham Barns, the perfect place for any rustic bohemian wedding. We then popped in to Jasmine Cottage (the bridal cottage located in the grounds of Upwaltham) where Hayley and the bridesmaids were getting ready for the excitement ahead. Hayley got into her dress which was extra special and unique as it was hand-made for her by her Auntie. The colour was a beautiful pale pink colour, adding to its charm.
After photographing the girls getting ready, we prepared for the ceremony. The room for the ceremony was beautifully flooded with natural light and had some lovely details including wall hangings and candles set back into the flint knapped wall at either side of the room, making for a very cosy atmosphere. The registrar was very charismatic and provided a really lovely service which genuinely brought a tear even to our eyes!
After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed some drinks before being served with their meals and the venue filled with warm chatter and laughs(the food at Upwaltham is always second to none). The decor was done beautifully in a very home-made, artsy style with each table being named after different places in New York City. The cake looked stunning topped off by a pastel rainbow macaroon tower. We were later to hear the significance of Macaroons later in the speeches. James’s Parents live in France and brought some more over for them, they also supplied the wine from their vineyard , nice aye.
Next it was on to the dancing and the photo booth as the evening guests began to arrive to join the party. They certainly didn’t shy away from our photo booth, pulling some of the best photo booth ‘shapes’ we’ve seen yet. We were really impressed with the DJ set up The Disco Shed– it was certainly different too.
The first dance also definitely has to have a mention- with Hayley being a dancer, her and the lovely James began romantically dancing together and then to everyone’s surprise their families began to join them in an upbeat ‘flash mob’ style routine which was very impressive and super funny, well done you lot!
We had bundles of fun at James & Hayleys beautiful homely, boho wedding where we had a very warm welcome and felt like part of the family! A massive thanks for sharing your day with us and a huge Congratulations to both Hayley and James.
Very nice Tim & Amanda…..I am sure the bride and groom will be overjoyed with these.
Thanks very much Tom, Hayley has contacted us to back that up.
They are wonderful thank you so much. I can’t believe you have managed to get such beautiful shots. Thank you so much.
