The Cambridge Proposal Shoot of Daniel and Yoyo

Proposal shoot (1 of 44)

Some time ago a very interesting email pinged into our inbox, it was from Daniel who lives in Hong Kong asking us we we would do a “Proposal Photoshoot”.

Daniels idea was that he was going to propose to his girlfriend Yoyo on a punt in Cambridge. Daniel used to attend Cambridge University and was going to pop the question whilst they where on holiday. What could possibly go wrong!!

Those of you who know us will know we are truly up for anything a bit different so we set the plans in motion, we didn’t want to miss this one a proposal shoot doesn’t happen every day.

Fast forward a few months with myself and Amanda waiting in line in the blistering hot sun, waiting for a punt that had been booked for ourselves and 2 others. We have to admit to sweating just a little and not just because of the summer sun. What was going to happen, will they turn up, will Yoyo say yes. Will Yoyo suss us out for photographers and not just  tourists photographing the sites.

Part 1 of the plan went off when Daniel and Yoyo turned up for the punt at the right time,we said our hellos, as you would to any stranger sharing a boat ride with you, and embarked onto the punt.

Off we went for an hours long trip propelled by the punt chauffeur (who was in on the action), with us shooting various landmarks and sneakily capturing Yoyo when she wasn’t looking. At half way at the green point Daniel got down on one knee and popped the question. As you can tell from the photos Yoyo excitedly said yes. Our cover was well and truly blown by then and we spent the rest of the ride photographing the happy couple and luckily for us sharing a bottle of champagne.

Back on dry land we continued the shoot in a dress that had been specially brought along for the occasion. Yoyo and Daniel were just great in-front of the camera and considering we had not met them before we joined them on the punt we all relaxed into the shoot instantly and had lots of fun  producing some (we hope you agree) brilliant images.

So our first proposal photography went off without a hitch, ok with one hitch, but that was the plan!

Congratulations Yoyo and Daniel we hope to see you again for the wedding
