James and Jess’s Wedding at Crow Hill was our final one of the year and we think we certainly finished our 2016 with a bang. This is thanks in on small part to this brilliant couple, it was such fun to be around them for the day and the love they have for one another is just plain to see for all.
Our day started nice and early at Crow Hill to capture James and his men in suits getting ready to leave for Uppermill, back over the boarder to where our studio is and St Chads the Church in which they were tying the knot. When we got to Crow Hill there was frost on the ground and you could certainly see your breath. Whilst it didn’t get too much warmer throughout the day we did get that beautiful low orange sun that you get in Autumn. We certainly were blessed with fantastic light, the golden hour photographers call it and we hit it just at the right time later in the day to make full use of it.
After James left we turned our attentions to Jess who was getting ready in the main house, also there was guest of honour Arthur, you may be able to guess from the photos who Arthur is!
Jess really did look as amazing in her stunning gown, when it was time for the reveal there was not a dry eye in the room, including us, it was a lovely moment.
Back at St Chads Church the congregation were err well congregating when we arrived back! again the light was perfect for us, often we have to simulate these conditions with powerful flash but today it stayed well and truly in its box, that is until the evening when we all braved the cold to do a great shot in the dark outside the house.
It was a lovely ceremony at St Chads and its nice to be able to go up to the balcony to get that great ‘above’ image.
We had planned to stop a few times on the way back to Crow Hill, once we stopped in the park in Uppermill and went on the swings, its here we got a good view of Jess’s fab wedding shoes, these were made by Charlotte Mills and ironically here shop boarders right onto the park where we were shooting, we are short of nothing in Uppermill (well sun most of the year but we will gloss over that)!
Back at Crow Hill we photographed the beautifully set up marquee, its different every time we go but it always looks pretty special, this was definitely helped along by the skills of Lilly Blossom florists.
So thats it then the end of 2016 for us as far as weddings go. The thing I love about photography is that you can always learn something every time you pick the camera up, I try to develop and push myself to do something new all the time, that way it will always be fresh and I will always love to do it, especially weddings and especially working with people like Jess and James who get what we do and said just do what you want we trust you to give us something special.
Well James and Jess (and Arthur) here you are, and you thought life couldn’t get any better!!
Our love and best wishes go out to you for the future and thanks for being ace x
