Great John Street Hotel is a place we have had the pleasure of shooting many a wedding at and it really was a pleasure to shoot the wedding of Anthony and Julie. There was lots of tradition going on at this wedding but also lots of modern touches too, it was such fun.
The fun and games started early in the morning with the traditional tests for Anthony by Julie’s bridesmaids, if Anthony does not pass these tests then the wedding doesn’t go ahead, thankfully for everyone involved Anthony and his groomsmen passed with flying colours. You can see from the pictures that one of the tests involved putting on women underwear, perhaps you can’t tell from the photos is that one of the tests involved a kind of marshmallow Russian Roulette as one of sweet treats was laced with Wasabi , luckily for Anthony he chose the right one for him.
Test passed it was time for Anthony to see his beautiful bride Julie who looked absolutely amazing, it was a lovely moment for all to witness.
Julie and Anthony walked down the aisle together which was really nice, it was a lovely ceremony to, fitting the occasion perfectly.
It was then out onto the balcony for drinks whilst the room was turned round for a tea party for the guests, toward the end of the tea party Tim we sneaked off with the newlyweds for some wedding photos round Manchester while Amanda started the Photo Booth.
Julie was keen not top have the photos too posed which is fine by me as thats what we do best, to expect anyone to be a professional model for a day is a big ask so we much prefer a natural style. we think that it certainly worked with Julie and Anthony as these are a set of images we are very proud of.
A couple of months prior to the wedding I did a pre wedding shoot with them at Dovestones Country Park, it a beautiful Nature Reserve only minutes from our studio. After swapping ideas with Julie what we are after that evening was a lovely low orange sun to backlight the shoot. As it turned out the night we met was a bit miserable so I had to use flash to backlight them and simulate the sun (I’m from Manchester so I’m used to doing this!), you can see this image on their seating chart on this blog post.
So on the day right in the middle of Manchester next to the Great Johns Hotel we eventually got what we were after out in the nature reserve, a lovely low sun and some great trees as a background, funny how thing work out.
After the Photo Booth it was time for all the guests to make their way to the Glamorous Chinese Restaurant for the afternoon and night time celebration.
As the many gets chatted in the restaurant outside we were being treated to 3 Unicorns or put more properly the Qilin Dance. The Qulin is said to appear during auspicious times or during great peace and harmony, so its easy to see why they were here on this day. They put on a magnificent show both outside the restaurant and later on inside.
It really was a fantastic day and an honour to be part of it, Julie and Anthony we wish you all the future happiness in the world.
