Creative Wedding Photography at the Russets Country House Wedding of Kerry and Tom

Russets Country House Wedding

For someone based in the North I shoot a lot of weddings in Surrey and Sussex, and it certainly is a part of the country I have very much grown to love. A wedding at Russets Country House is a new one one for me and I do hope to be shooting more weddings there in the future, it’s such a brilliant venue. The early morning prep

Tom and his groomsmen were getting ready at his parents’ lovely home, where I was made to feel very welcome. This friendliness ran through the whole day. It’s nice to start my day feeling like this, as you just get straight into the shooting. It feels like you have known these people for years! It really helps get the relaxed wedding photos that I’m after. I’d met Tom and Kerry earlier on in the year when we had a tour of the planned day. It was great to spend some time with them. They really got my creative wedding photography style, and on the day they really did get what I was trying to do. This is always reflected in the final images too. All these things and more go towards producing this set of pictures and I’m super pleased with them, so thanks Tom and Kerry for being an awesome couple. This was my last wedding of the season and it couldn’t have gone better.

Kerry and the girls were getting ready a few miles down the road in a great cottage. I spent well over an hour here photographing the bridal preparations leaving just after Kerry got into her amazing dress supplied by Heart Aflutter Bridal in London.

The lovely Chiddingfold Church

I visited the Chiddingfold Church early in the morning. Although I had visited it early in the year with Kerry and Tom, I just wanted to get acquainted again. I’m glad I did because whilst exploring round the back of the church I noticed in the adjacent field some brilliant round hay bales that had just been made. This looked amazing in the bright sunny day that we had, and meant I could get some great more creative shots! I’ve always wanted to do a shot in a field with hay bales but circumstances have always prohibited this. I was very happy then because I just knew I could get some amazing shots later after the ceremony.

The ceremony was great, the vicar was ace and the readings were lovely. I must admit though as lovely as it was I was dying to get into the field next door, I hope you can see why!

Hay, what a wedding

So after the ceremony and confetti we got stuck into the couple’s pictures part of the day. I really like to make these look natural – it’s my style and it seems to suit my brides and grooms. Kerry and Tom certainly got it. I just think it looks forced and unnatural if you get people to contort into awkward poses, and I think these images are a testament to that.

Speeches and Dancing

The speeches were really entertaining, you could see how much time and thought people had put into them, which is a reflection of just what a great, warm, infectious couple Tom and Kerry are.

After drinks on the lawns at Russets Country House it was time for the band to strike up and the dancing to start. For all I know they could still be dancing now because this was shaping up to one hell of a party!

Kerry and Tom you are made for each other and I do hope I’m back in Sussex very soon.
