How to plan the perfect intimate wedding, by Debbie and Mike

I just knew Debbie and Mike’s wedding would be a fun and interesting day and I wasn’t disappointed! I’ve been looking forward to it for ages – it was my last wedding of 2019 and it finished the year off in great style. I’ve also been looking forward to shooting my signature bohemian wedding photography style at George St Chapel in Oldham, which is an amazing place. It’s an old Methodist Chapel acquired by Age UK about 15 years ago. Since then they have renovated it to a great standard, keeping many of the original fixtures. It has such a good feel about it and it’s absolutely perfect for an intimate, relaxed wedding. The perfect venue for Mike and Debbie.

Wedding preparations

I met Debbie and her family at their lovely quirky house to shoot the morning’s perorations. It’s always a lovely time and there certainly were no nerves present whatsoever (now or for the rest of the day!). What you need to know about Mike and Debbie’s house is that in the hall there is a sign that read ‘It looks like my house is losing a game of Jumanji”, and after that it all falls brilliantly into place.
After photographing Mike and family leaving for the George St Chapel in a fab Rolls Royce I made my way there myself to photograph the rest of the day.

Going to the Chapel and we’re going to get married…

It was a lovely intimate family affair in a great venue. What’s not to like?! After tea and cakes we had a walk round the immediate area to George St Chapel, in true bohemian wedding photography style. I had some shots in mind, and Debbie and Mike looked fab.
After another meal, cutting the stunning cake (by The Frostery, so you know it will be good!) pass the parcel and dancing to the jukebox we managed another few shots outside the Chapel in the dark, which came out really nicely.
If you’re planning a stylish intimate wedding with family then I’d do it the Debbie and Mike way – it was such a lovely day and the venue suited them down to the ground.
