Lockdown Minimony Wedding
Lizzie and Robs fab day was my first Saddleworth wedding of the year. Well its only my 3rd wedding of the year and of course this wedding was under the lockdown Covid 19 restrictions.
It’s been a testing time for all of us but Lizzie and Rob’s day certainly reminded me how lucky I am to so what I do, they absolutely smashed the Lockdown wedding thing, everyone was so friendly, everyone was smiling all day (apart from the ring thing, which we will get to), the weather was ace and of course Saddleworth’s amazing scenery came into play too. The new word for this style of Lockdown wedding is ‘Minimony’, as in a scaled down version of the full event which will be held at a later date. So I’m already looking forward to next year for so many reasons!
A wedding with style
I always say that the feel of a wedding comes from the top down, that’s why this wedding was super friendly, loads of fun, chilled out and full of love. Because thats how Lizzie and Rob are.
Also adding to the style of the wedding were Eden Floral styling from our very own village of Uppermill, we are so lucky to have these talented par on our doorstep, well done girls
The lovely Holy Trinity, Dobcross
Sometimes the job of wedding photographer can be a challenging one and fraught with danger, well it is the way I do it anyway! Sometimes obstacles are put in your way that you have to skilfully negotiate. Often these obstacles are put there by cantankerous vicars and church wardens. So it was very pleasing that the folks at The Holy Trinity in Dobcross were without doubt the loveliest most friendly church folk I have ever come across in my 300+ weddings. They could not have been more acomodating and all done following the Covid 19 restrictions. In fact I’d come across the vicar before at Jode and Gary’s Saddleworth wedding and just check out how chilled he is there.
So the ring thing! Its often a running joke that the best man or groom forget the rings only for them to miraculously appear in another pocket after much hilarious rummaging. Well after a chat with with the vicar prior to the ceremony Rob did in fact discover that he had forgotten the rings. Queue a frantic phone call to his soon to be wife and Rob and the best man simply ran off down the road (check out the 11th photo) to return intimate for the ceremony rings in hand, phew.
Its obvious when looking at these photos that they would be nothing without the fabulous looking stylish bride, so thats for doing your bit Lizzie 🙂
Whilst there was no singing at the ceremony due to lockdown wedding restrictions the 30 guest are treated to a really lovely unforgettable ceremony in this lovely church.
What happened next
After the ceremony the guests milled around chatting in the sun while I snapped away in my element. I even spotted the same cat that I remember photographing at Lorna and Ben’s White Hart Wedding last year
Again as this wedding was under lockdown restrictions I was only there for a couple of hours and under these restrictions the bridal preparation shots had to be shelved. That’s why with limited time its important to plan the bride and groom portraits meticulously. So living in Saddleworth I was able to explore some vantage points and plan the shoot the night before. I always do this as time is important to a bride and groom on their wedding day and I don’t like to take more than 30 minutes if I can help it.
The Wedding reception at The Old Bell in Delph
Back at the Old Bell in Delph the guests were enjoying some lovely food ( I know it was lovely I ate there the week before) and the sun. Robs speech was an absolute peach, I think he had been taking pointers from Peter Kay!
As this was a short day for me I then disappeared and left the guest their meal and evening frivolities.
Thanks for an unforgettable day Lizzie and Rob, I think together we nailed these photos and I wish you lots more happiness you guys are just perfect together xx
