Lockdown wedding photography
Last weekend I spent a fab few hours with Karen and Ian. This Canterbury wedding under socially distancing guidelines was my first wedding since I was at the Inn at Whitewell in March so I was itching to be a wedding photographer again. It’s quite a drive from Manchester for a few hours shooting but I think this is the way things will be now for a while, weddings will just be shorter and more intimate and judging by this one different is good. Micro weddings is where its at!
Covid 19 wedding ceremony
There were only 10 guests at this lockdown wedding in Canterbury and even I wasn’t allowed in the ceremony room to shoot so I had to sort of lean in the best I could, extend my arm and use the screen on the back of the camera to see what I was shooting, different for sure.
The wedding ceremony was over in double quick time as was the socially distanced group shot afterwards.
Canterbury Wedding photography
I really didn’t have long to shoot some (non posed) wedding portraits so I’d planned them out to the minute the day before. I can generally shoot this part of the day in 30 minutes as I really appreciate that time is important on a wedding day, the less time with me the less time with guests. However I do find that the bride and groom whilst not initially relishing this part of that day always get right into it and love it in the end. I’m pretty sure Ian and Karen had a great time walking round Canterbury and I genuinely have not heard more ‘congratulations’ shouted at anyone before, it was really lovely to see.
Karen and Ian’s Canterbury wedding was a low key, stylish lovely warm friendly wedding and if this is how weddings are going to be under Covid 19 restrictions then honestly that really isn’t such a bad thing at all.
