Last weekend we photographed the wedding of a lovely young couple called Oliver & Laura at one of our favourite ever venues, Crow Hill. This venue happens to be on our doorstep too, and we love photographing there- definitely one of the quirkiest venues in our neck of the woods we’d say!
We arrived nice and early to set up our Photo Booth for the evenings celebrations and then we went on to photograph some bridal preparations in the Bridal Suite, which is a lovely big room with large front window letting in floods of light. We were greeted by some very friendly bridesmaids and an excited Laura who was having her hair done at the time. We floated around taking some reportage, candid shots of the preparations and of some of the details in the room. There was a really relaxed atmosphere in there and everyone seemed very calm and collected.
When Oliver arrived, he brought Milo the dog with him, we couldn’t resist but to get some shots of his arrival! He looked very handsome, Oliver scrubbed up well too 😉
Laura then got into her beautiful dress- a fitted, boho style lace number with sequin embellishments and long sleeves, paired with an elegant vail. She looked absolutely amazing! The bridesmaids also looked radiant as ever in their gorgeous pink skater dresses. Plus we can’t forget Finlay the super cute ring barer with his squeaky shoes- he looked very smart indeed.
That was it- time to tie the knot! The ceremony took place in the amazing outside area of Crow Hill, adorned by woodland trees- one feature tree in particular which is where the couple were blessed in front of- it had been beautifully adorned with dripping candles and was a lovely addition to the ceremony setting.
The order of service had some very creative flair- Laura had designed it to be like a newspaper with a cute photo of the pair on the front and some info on the bridal party and Groomsmen inside. It even had a crossword!
After the ceremony and the congratulations, we pinched Oliver & Laura for a bit for some semi-styled couple’s portraits. They both got totally into this part of the day and gave it their all- they even climbed a tree. It’s safe to say Laura was one super brave bride to climb a tree in her gorgeous wedding dress. Tim is used to climbing trees- we sometimes see our wedding photography as an extreme sport…. when there’s a photo opportunity in an unusual place (up a tree/mountain/hanging out the back of a moving car, etc!) we’re going to take it. Especially Tim- he’s up for anything. Therefore it was refreshing to see a Bride and Groom with the same ethos.
After some extra creative couple’s shots, it was time for the newlyweds and the guests to drink & be merry! The speeches were made, and were very warm with some definite humour thrown in there, especially from the best man- it was lovely to see that Oliver had chosen his brother for this role.
After the amazing food had been eaten (and we can vouch that the food at Crow Hill is always amazing!), it was time for the Photo Booth. The craziness began, group after group dressing up in silly gear and throwing all sorts of wonderful shapes for the camera- what a fun bunch they were!
After this, the cake was cut and the first dance was danced- then the serious partying commenced.
We had a lovely time at your wedding Oliver & Laura, everyone was super kind to us and made us feel like a special part of your day so we thank you both for being so welcoming.
We wish you all the best for your future and a ma-hoosive CONGRATULATIONS!
